The German TV station invited us to take a ride on the new VIP Taxi last night (and filmed us). The company (apparently) runs a Maybach, a Rolls Royce and other high class cars als VIP Taxis. During our drive, we interviewed the English speaking driver. A trip costs around 3000 Rub an hour. He never answered our question:”Do you really have a Maybach taxi and is it Orange as well?”. The driver told us that there are next to no foreigners among his guests. Its mostly younger Russians, who rent the taxi to impress their girlfriends and go for a ride for 1 to 2 hours through the city. We asked him about some hot sex and drug stories. He just smiled, confirmed that there are many, but didn’t want to give us any details. He was a real nice guy and a gentlemen. Bummer, though. Would have loved to share some of these stories with you.
The friendly driver was the best thing about the Porsche VIP Taxi. The car was half broken inside. It seemed to us it was a 2nd or 3rd hand used car, which they got somewhere cheap. The Cayenne is ok in terms of room, but also not very comfy. The orange color dags too much attention. We wish we’d had a car in black so we can at least pretend its ours :-)
The video DVD system didn’t work and so we had a rather boring drive, apart from the nice conversation with the driver and a the dirvers statement, after he broke a series of traffic rules and we warned him about a nearby cop:”Fuck the police. We are VIP!”
