Did Putin seduce Sarkozy to drink vodka?

This video goes around the world right now. Apparently it shows Frances new president Sarkozy drunk, after a meeting with president Putin on the G8 in Germany. Well done, Vladimir Vladimirovitch! First of all, I assume you just wanted to salute his recent election win and wish him a “bustarov” (health) over a few vodkas. Second, why should Sarkozy feel better than many of us, negotiating and meeting with Russian business men. Seriously, respect! Especially since Sarkozy is an alleged anti-alcoholic. Hope you got some good deal out of it.

The French don’t want to talk about it. In the meantime Bush is still looking for his watch, which apparently was stolen by some Albanian, while he took a bath in the public. Once again it shows, these politicians are only human. No matter how powerful and protected they are.

Seriously though, there is a hot debate on the Internet, if Sarkozy was really drunk or not. Apparently he has heavy migraines and cannot drink alcohol at all for that reason. Others think he is just tired or has a stomack problem. Some find it obvious that he is drunk and say: Now, France has its Jelzin. (I am just quoting, no dis-respect for the recently deceased Boris Jeltsin from my end).

I think its notable, though, that the French press is not picking up this subject at all. Other bloggers think the French press are afraid of Sarkozys long arm, since he got a critical editor fired during his time as interior minister. I want to use this opportunity (and I am not pro Russia or Putin, but just objective) to have a look at Frances (in the middle of FREE EUROPE) freedom of speech and freedom of press. Where are the critics now that usually blame Russia for being undemocratic for exactly that reason.

Man, I hope they’ll let me into the country next time, I want to visit my friends in Paris, after I wrote all of this.
