Yesterday around 3 PM Thomas Hill reports a blast on the Expat-Email List, asking if anyone has some news about it, because there was nothing in the news or on any website:
“Car alarms went off outside my office, near Tretyakovskaya. Any idea what the boom was?
Thomas“
Another list member writes:
“Did anyone else hear a booming explosive noise that rattled glass? I work in the center, by the Manezh, and I heard it and the glass of my window rattled. But when I went over and looked out, I couldn’t see anything unusual.
My Russian colleagues are saying that the Internet is abuzz with this, but no news organizations are reporting anything.
Jennifer Howard then answers:
“According to Gazeta.ru, which was the only online newspaper reporting it, at first, it was a bomb being destroyed on Stary Ploshad by the bomb squad.
Then, the story was that it was not a bomb at all on Stary Ploshad, just a bag with wires that they destroyed anyway, just to be safe, and the explosive sound was the destruction process.
Then, the story was that it was probably a military jet flying over Moscow breaking the sound barrier.
I didn’t see anything anywhere else.“
As of today it is unclear what it was, but it shows you how much we all have the fear of terror in our bones and heads. It has been a while since the Chechnians have done their last attack on Moscow, but we all know that it is only a matter of time until they will hit again and hopefully we are not close to it. Statistically its more likely you win the lottery than getting a victim to one of these attacks, but than again people are close and get victims.
