Audi Avant A4 TDI (Sixt)

Alright, I’m back in Moscow. Spent 2 hours inside the plane standing on the taxi way in Munich, waiting for them to re-open the runway and all because of a little snow. Yes of course, safety is always first, I’m just wondering why that never happens in Moscow, even if it snows much more than it did yesterday morning in Munich.

Anyways, it was quiet a boring week and business was not very successful either. One highlight was my rental car. I hoped to get somewhat like a Volvo again and ended up with a Audi Avant A4 TDI, but it was actually better than the Volvo X80 I had last time. The Audi is just a bit smaller and on the drivers seat you feel a bit locked in (and I am not fat). I also didn’t like the cockpit. It just looks cheesy (well that is a matter of taste) and the bright lights irritated me a lot, while driving at night. Even so I really pushed the car I only needed an average of 8-9 litres of Diesel gas per 100 KM and that was quite good. The tachometer shows 260, but the car rarely makes 220 KM/h (137 Mph), which is OK for a diesel. A 6 gear shift allows you to drive pretty sportive and the car behaves very well on the street, no matter if you push it up a curvy mountain road or you are doing some high speed on a highway.

When in Germany, Sixt Rental Cars offers the Audi A4 Avant TDI for 138 EUR’s for a weekend and currently they have a special that lets you add another day (Thursday or Monday). That offer is also valid for one-way drives, so you can rent it in Frankfurt and drop it off in Munich, as I did this time. If you pick it up on an airport or train station they may add an additional service charge of about 25 EUR. Insurance an kilometres are included., In my opinion you won’t need an extra insurance. Be aware that you’ll be held liable for (I think) about 1000 EUR, if you crash the car, everything else is covered by the insurance.
