Leto - Moscow Summer Photos 2005

August 23rd, 2005 by Two-Zero

Here are some photos I took during last week. Some more Moscow summer photos. Maybe some of the last ones. It seems summer is leaving us. Michael said it last week: “Good that we went to Leto, because summer is over now”. A bit to early my friend. Wish it would last much longer. Summer in Moscow is a blast. Ha ha, remember how we sneaked into Leto club? When we arrived there was this long line. I spotted some people going to the VIP entrance and we just went right with them. You just gotta be blunt. Nothing to loose. This stupid face control show. Who needs it? Its as shitty as the Russian winter.

The city can actually be nice and I love it 1-2 hours before sunset or in the morning at dawn. That’s, when I just get out of some club and walk home. You know that feeling, right? Pretty drunk, stoned of tiredness and letting the people from last night pass by in your memory. Who did I talk to? What was it about? Agghh. I am tired. Nevermind. The streets are still calm, but starting to get busy. Another day. A working day. FUCK! I have to get up in 3 hours and work. How am I gonna do that? Doesn’t matter. I take a few more steps, enjoy the fresh air, than grab a taxi home and go to bed. No regrets!

How to pick up a Russian women

August 19th, 2005 by Two-Zero

Guess, I am starting a Russian women series here. Just followed an entry in my refer-log to a search engine and the listing above my site showed this document. So for all of you, who don’t know how to flirt with a Russian lady and are looking for a Russkie girl some expert advice on how to approach them. Be aware that the document is from a Russian Marriage Agency, but the procedures remind me a lot of the tactics my friend Vadim is using. I don’t have a lot of experience, since I have a (Russian) girlfriend, but if I’d go “hunting”, I’d do the same that I do in Europe or the US. What is described in this document is just too cheap and without style I think, but I can confirm (from my friends) that it works with some девушки (Djevushki=Girls). Good Luck.

Russian Women

August 16th, 2005 by Two-Zero

I’ve been wanting to write an article about Russian Women for the longest time, but I am still making up my mind and I have to be careful with all the critics I get to my articles in this Blog from upset Russian readers. While my biggest criticizer Alex became the running joke among my Expat friends here in Moscow, every time someone says something bad about Russia or Russian (the usual foreigner complaints, living in another country) he looks around and adds a: “Oh, I hope Alex didn’t hear that!”, I take the critics seriously and as you see publish their comments even if they are hard on the edge sometimes.

Russian Women
Moscow center. Just like on the catwalk.

Anyway, back to Russian women. I think they are with no doubt the most beautiful and gracious among the many cultures I have seen so far. I don’t really know what it is, the heavy make-up, the upright gracious walk or the sexy way they like to dress. When I came to Russia, I bought myself a culture guide that compares Russian with German culture (Kultur Schock von Barbara Löwe, Reise Know-How Verlag, ISBN 3-8317-1031-7). To my surprise I find a small warning at the end of the book (page 237), where the author says: “Russians and Germans have an enormous attraction for each other, also in relationships between men and women. But there are huge cultural differences and after a while they are not anymore considered nicely exotic, but difficult in daily life …” further she says: “… often problems result out of the German or Russian understanding of the position of a man or a women in a relationship, which is just not compatible…”. I remember that I called this passage “none-sense” when I read the book first when I came here, but this warning stayed in my head for a long time and after being here for 2 years I can just support this opinion 100%.

So while I make up my mind, trying to write a smart article about the cultural differences between German men and Russian women, I let someone else do the bashing. Just found this article, when I was searching for Coffeemania (a coffeehouse in Moscow). My search led me to a LA based Russian site about Coffee and Chai, that also had a forum about … Russian Women. I couldn’t resist to have a look and among thousands of Turkish, Albanian and American guys looking for a “Natasha” or a Russian wife I found a post of this guy with a warning and a link to his site. I don’t know the background of him. Is he an expat or an unattractive American looking for love elsewhere (like so many)? Did he become the victim of some marriage agency scam? But, his article (although quite offensive in some parts) was an entertaining read and to be honest, there is a bit of truth there, even when exaggerated most of the times. Oh, I hope Alex didn’t hear that, but anyways, now he has someone else to criticize and threaten with house visits…

Russian Women 3

Some statements from the article:

“What this means is that to succeed with a Russian woman, you must be willing to spend freely on someone who is completely miserly, cheap and stingy toward you! I can’t think of more wonderful wholesome conditions.”

“As to the last paragraph about dishonorable whores, I experienced this one time at the infamous Doug & Marty’s Boarhouse in Moscow (Kurskaya metro). I witnessed a “working girl” demand that my friend pay her upfront, so she could go in the back and give her pimp the cut. But she never returned! (The lesson is, never give a Russian whore the money until you get to the room she will perform in) And one time, when I offered a big gift in exchange for sex, the Russian girl didn’t get it at first, and assumed that the big gift was being offered for nothing.”

“I have also heard and experienced a few times, that every Russian woman has a price she will sell her body for, even the good nice ones. There is even a saying about it in Russia, which goes like this, “Offer me 50-100 dollars and I will say that I’m not that kind of woman. But offer me $10,000 and I’ll be that kind of woman.”

Found this article at (and there is also an email, where you can complain): http://www.geocities.com/wwu777us/Opportunistic_Russian_Women.htm

Ha ha, enough now. I guess some of you are upset already. Well, its NOT my opinion or as we say: “Don’t shoot the messenger!”. If you want more click here, but be sure you really want to read this. It may be offensive to you… OK, that was my disclaimer. No bad comments on this page please. Email the poor bastard who wrote this if you are upset and wait until I write my 5 cents on Russian women (and German man).

Voelkl.com and Völkl Ski International

August 15th, 2005 by Two-Zero

One of our larger projects this year: Völkl’s Portal - Voelkl.com. The design and concept was made by the agency PRINZIP in Munich. We just did the programming part. The portal is available in 4 different languages and includes little gadgets like a skifinder-application, that recommends ski’s based on your input and preferences.

Water Melon Man

August 14th, 2005 by Two-Zero

Summer time, melon man time. One of my favorite cocktails, but I haven’t found a barkeeper that can do it in Moscow yet. But, summer time water melon time in Moscow. When you drive to the outskirts on one of the outbound streets you’ll find masses of trucks from Georgia and other Southern neighboring countries loaded fully with melons. They load the cargo on small lada’s and trucks and drive it into the city, where you’ll find a melon sales man on virtually every corner of the center. Seems to be a good business, although the melons are dead cheap, but 15 Million people want their melons in summer.

Here’s the recipe for all of you Moscow bar keepers that have pride in your profession:
Melon Man
Ingredients
0.5 oz. Vodka
0.5 oz. Triple Sec
1.5 oz. Midori
4 oz. Lemon Lime soda

Mixing Instruction
Pour all ingredients except Soda into shaker. Fill a Highball glass almost full of ice cubes, and dump ice into shaker. Shake well and pour drink into Highball glass. Add Soda, stir well, and garnish with a Lime Wedge.

Glass Type: Collins Glass
